Game 3, This One We Just Came Up Short. 4/11/07

In this game we finally got to make some real baseball plays. Fly balls caught, balls fielded, Hit & Run, attempted steals put out, & so on. We stranded to many guys on the bases early but when we had to have a defencive stop we stepped up & did it in the fourth inning to give us a chance to hit our way to a win. We looked like we were heading toward doing it with some good base running by Holden but just came up a little short in the end. Ben had some rocky times but pitched his way out of trouble with the help of his team when he needed to. Hammer came in relief to pitch 2 1/3 great innings earning him the game ball for the game. We've got this team again Saturday. We'll get'em next time.

Game 2, Curtis & Brik Playing Catch. 4/10/07

Game #2 was totally different then game #1. Defensively this was a game of catch. Curtis pitched a great game & Brik kept getting better at catcher as the game went on. A very different story with the weather also. It was a perfect evening not hot or cold just right. And with the warmer weather came the bats. The boys were swinging the bats & putting the ball in play. The game ball got split between the defence of the night, Curtis & Brik. Boys keep swinging those bats because it's more fun to hit the ball then walk.

River Cats 13 - Rangers 2

A Cold First Game 4/7/07

It may of been cold but at least we got to play a game. Unfortunately we came up a little short at the end of the game. Nick Llorente had a good first outing on the mound but the bats were a little cold. No I mean really "COLD" it was 34 degrees & snowing at times. Brik came to the dugout during the second inning asking for his sun glasses. When I replied there isn't any sun. He then said something I've never heard said in a baseball game, "I need my glasses to keep the snow out of my eyes, I can't see". Between innings the boys were drinking hot chocolate & wrapping up in blankets just to stay warm. The game ball went to Grant Baldwin for his first hit ever in a game. This is Grant's first year to play baseball & he's trying to do what ever we tell him to get better.

What do you mean rained out, I don't see any rain.

Well game day has come & what do you know, RAINOUT. I know everybody is disappointed but that will just give use another practice to prepare & Saturday we'll be ready to go. Saturday 3/31 @ 10:45am, SC field 2 at Mariners, Fagan-snacks. Be at the game at 10:00am. Curtis is scheduled to start at pitcher.

Well it's time to start getting ready for baseball season.

Well sad to say the season is over 2 games short. I want to thank all the parents for giving me the opportunity to teach your kids & most of all have fun with them. Believe it or not I love coaching & helping the kids play & learn football. Sports, especially football, has been a large part of my life since I was a little boy & I get into coaching just as much. If you ever need my help feel free to call your kids are now my kids. I love them all. Brik drives me crazy at times just like your sons do but they make me proud & make me laugh also. I'll be looking for you to be back next. Superbowl or Bust. Keep in mind most of our team was 8 this year & should return. I'll see everybody Dec 3rd for our team party at Pump-It-Up in Arlington.

ABD Jr BLUE vs ABD Jr White, Playoff Round 1

Well unfortionatly we had to play our White team in the first round but the boys played hard & were respectful of their friends in a 32 - 0 win for Blue. Great job this year Jr White come back next year & build on what you've learned. This week we have a tuff but very winnable game against Mansfield Wildcats. The game is at Paschal High School in Fort Worth at 2:00pm Sat 11/11. Keep up the good work 2 more wins till the Superbowl. If the boys win this Saturday advancing to the Conference Championship I've promised them they could cut my hair & if they win that game they get coach Johnny's hair. Parents let's help keep the boys focused a few more weeks then we can rest after Dec 2nd.

We Won 32-0. Well it would be nice to have weekends like this more often. Not just the win but everybody played a lot & had fun. The boys played hard, got the lead & had a great time doing it. This concludes our regular season now off to the playoffs.

Well that was a hard loss. The boys played hard the weather was bad & the other team played dirty. This is one of the reasons why Phil & I stress respect for others. There's not much worse in youth sports then a coach teaching & telling his players to do something illegal to try to hurt somebody else. I got to hand it to the boys they kept their composure & played hard & legal. Brik, thanks for giving it your all even though you were hurt. Offensive line I know you had no rest, good job. Some of our younger guys are looking much better & I trying to give them more responsibilities. We need to shake this game off & prepare for Blue Raider Ravens. The Ravens are in our conference & with a win over them we will be in position to win the Blue Conference earning a 1st round bye. ABD Jr Blue @ BR Ravens, 10:00am Sat. 10/21. ABD JR BLUE vs Mansfield Lions, Week 5

ABD Jr Blue Wins 12-0.
Well another one bites the dust. 3 in a row. It's good to know when we don't play our best we still have enough to pull out a win any way. Coming off the best blocking effort I had in 3 years the line took in the 3rd qtr. We finally got them focused & back on track in the 4th qtr. Curtis & Chase had a great pass catch. I don't care what the ref. thought it looked complete to me. I tried to get a few other people a chance to get in on the Defense late in the game & we still held onto the shut out. Great Job. This week we will get the chance to even the score with Blue Raider Raiders when we see them for the second time this season. In the second half of the 1st game we played against them we held them to nothing. This time we are ready to do it both halves.

We started the game off a little short handed on the line & I had to do a little moving people around to fill the gaps left by players not at the game. I told Brik, Kaleb, Brown, & AJ get ready for a long day because I didn't have anybody to sub in to give you much of a rest. Then each of them along with Brian, Tanner, & Murphy stepped up and gave me the best blocking we have had all year, I'm proud. My Defense once again just shut down our opponent with stand out efforts by all. Next up is Mansfield Lions at 5:00PM in Mansfield.

Well the boys played great this week & finally it paid off with a long awaited win. Zoe was back out with us this week & we were happy to have her back on our sideline. The Defense smothered everything they tried to do. Both touchdowns were scored by Bryce, one on Offence & one was an interception ran back. We got a little bit of passing started this week hopefully Coach Phil & the boys can add to that next week, good catch Stefan. I could point to every body on my Defense & say great job for the shut out. Tanner keep going after those fumbles I thought you were going to get it. Next up is Mansfield Pumas @ Ferguson JH.

ABD JR BLUE vs Riverside Eagles, Week 2

Well I really take a lose like this one preaty hard. We beat the Eagles up & down the field & if you were to look at the stats you would of thought we had won. The boys played great. We had the ball om Offence most of the 1st half & when they did get the ball we would sack them for a loss or force a fumble. This continuned in the 2nd half except for 2 plays. A substatution change that went wrong, my bad. Week two was a step in the right direction & this week we have Mansfield Bengals @ Mansfield. The game starts at 1:00PM. We need everybody there at noon for warm ups. Don't forget to email copies of the pictures you take of JR BLUE for the scrap book to Susi suse.f.1028@sbcglobal.net.

Picture Day- Team and Individual pictures will be taken on Monday 9/25. All players and cheerleaders will need to be in full uniform and at the practice field at 6:00 pm. Pictures will need to be ordered and paid for at the time they are taken.

ABD Jr Blue vs Blue Raider Raiders, Week 1

Well it started a little slower then we hoped for but by the second half the boys were looking like their old selves on Defense. A few opening day mistakes cost us big but I was proud of the guys for listening to what the coaches had to say at half time the holding them to just one first down for the whole 2nd half. Game one you hope to get a little easier opponent so you can fight through the learning curve. Our luck just had us going against an origination that always fields tough teams. No worries that's why we had a non-conference game this week, it doesn't count. As the defensive coordinator the guys on D drove me crazy early then made me proud late. That's the way coaching is. Don't worry guys we'll get them next time. Next up @ Riverside Eagles.

Weigh-In

Well weigh-in day was hectic. Of course Jr. Blue and the other ABD teams were ready to go on time but due to delays of earlier groups we were over an hour behind. Thanks parents & players at least we did what we were supposed to. There weren't any surprises at weigh-in. We finally got Blayke & Bryce out with the rest of the team & we're glad to have them. Our first game is this coming 1:00PM Saturday, 9/9/06 at Ferguson Jr High against Blue Raider Raiders.
