Camp AGGIE, June '08

Brik & I went to Texas A&M this summer for football camp. Brik's team won the Aggie Ball tournament & got to play on Kyle field. I was a very proud Dad & Coach. Coach Turner, the O-line coach, nick named Brik "Hack-saw". He said Brik had the best form & stance of any lineman in the camp.

As a former student at A&M I loved watching my son in maroon & white running around the Texas A&M campus.

Brik got invited to join the Dive Team.

It's been awhile.

Great job this year Hurricanes.

I know I've been away awhile but we've been doing some new stuff this year. Brik decided to play basketball for the first time this year & I think he did a pretty god job. I didn't coach his team but you know me I was out there helping during practice.

A look at the 2007 ABD Jr. Blue

We set a goal back in August, before the season started, to be in the Superbowl. We were there. This season brought a lot of firsts for us.

*This was our 1st year to win all our regular season games, 7-0.

*Coach Phil beat Blue Raider for the 1st time in his 8yrs with ABD (we beat all 3 of their Jr. teams).

*Only twice in 11 games has our defense been scored on.

*Our O-line didn't allow a sack.

*12 of 16 boys got the chance to run &/or catch the ball.

*8 different boys scored.

*I can't count the # of sacks we had (a lot).

*We scored over 50 points in one game (could of scored over 80).

*First year in the Superbowl.

*10-1 season.

Don't hang your heads. We've had a great season. Let's have fun, come back next year, start again.

NTYFA SUPER BOWL 2007

Mansfield Wildcats vs Arlington Blue Devils Jr. Blue

I'm sorry it took me awhile to update Coach Charlie's Corner.

Superbowl, Dec 1st. We knew going into this game it would be a battle. Only 1 touchdown was scored in the whole game between these two equally matched teams in a short field situation. It was a heart breaking loss but a great effort by everyone. I'm extremely proud of these boys for a increditable season & look forward to coaching them again next season. Jr. Blue, Great Job!

TCU Bulldogs @ ABD Jr Blue, Round 3

TCU Bulldogs/ABD Blue, take 2
Well here we go again. The day started off a little different. We went the whole 1st half of the ball game with only 1 play on offense, it was a fumble, & at half time the game was still 0-0. Great job holding them out of the end-zone Blue Devils. Once again these TCU boys didn't make it an easy time out there. They kept coming the whole game long. With the time running low & 4th & goal from a couple yards out a strong defensive stance & a bad snap by TCU, ABD kept the lead 6-0. 3 strong defensive plays by TCU kept the ball inside the ABD 15 with around a minute to go. 4th & 11. ABD needs a 1st down to be able to run out the clock when, with some good blocking, DeJuan doesn't get the 11 we need but breaks it all the way 80+ yards for a touchdown. About a half a minute left TCU runs the kick-off all the way back to make it ABD 12-6. With ABD covering the on-side kick, the come back attempt had been stopped & ABD is now on their way to the NTYFA Superbowl.
GREAT JOB BOYS!
Good luck to TCU in the consoluation game against Grand Prairie.
GO BLUE DEVILS! Beat the Mansfield Wildcats.

Blue Raider Ravens @ ABD Jr Blue, Round 2

ARLINGTON BLUE DEVILS, ROCK THE HOUSE!
Jr Blue Defense is getting ready to ATTACK.
Jr Blue Offense starting their first drive to TD.
Round 2. This game had me nervous. It was set up to be a trap game. Unknown opponent, we should win, & trying to keep everybody from looking forward to next week. After a deep kick & that monster Defense stopping the Ravens, the ABD Jr Blue Offense controlled the clock all game long. That Ravens team had some big boys on that line but we held them off & wore them down. Another 18-0 win sets us up for our rematch with TCU Bulldogs next week in the semi-finals.

Blue Raider Lions @ ABD Jr Blue, Round 1

Jr Blue started the playoffs by shutting down any attempt of offensive movement from the Lions. The offensive started slow but look pretty good after we got rolling. Not a lot to say about this one, 18-0 win. Nice solid performance from the boys. We should be ready for round 2. Up next is Blue Raider Ravens @ O.D. Waytt HS in Ft.Worth @ 4pm, 11/10. See you there.

ABD Jr Blue @ TCU Bulldogs, Week 8

Sorry for they delay but the Coach has been very busy. Unforinitally I have no pictures of the best game I seen the 4 years I've been coaching at ABD. The game was so exciting the camera person couldn't tear herself away from the action long enough to get new batteries. The boys showed they are determined to win. The winner of this game would win our Division & if we won it would keep us undefeated for the regular season & a chance for the top seed in our Conference for the playoffs. We went down quickly & the boys got a little discouraged. At halftime we were behind 14-0. Then they decided we're not out yet. The Defense stopped them & we started scoring. With about 2 min. left we tied it up, got the onside kick & started driving again. Inside the muddy 15 the ball was stripped on a play that should of been blown dead for forward progress. TCU was streaking to a win when DeJuan caught the TCU player near the 10yd line. The D held & off to overtime. We swapped scores in the 1st OT then we scored quick in the 2nd. We pulled the boys to the side had our talk then proceeded to push them backwards to get a very hard fought 30-22 double OT win. I would like to thank all my co-coaches for keeping cool & keeping the boys focused, the boys for never quiting & showing such great charter, & the parents for cheering your kids on the whole way through.
UNDEFEATED regular season. It's playoff time.
